Trauma Healing Techniques - Veterans and thier guests Welcome
On August 19th we are hosting Jane Ryan, retired RN and mental health counselor and Vietnam era Nurse to introduce us to “Playing with Art for Healing and FUN!” Don't let the name fool you. This is about the process being presented, not the art.
Jane will present art centered techniques that have been incredibly helpful in dealing with symptoms of trauma, PTSD, and insomnia. This is a hands on, fun experience, not a lecture. No artistic skills are required. Each session is approximately 2.5 hours.
Who is invited: Veterans and their guests.
When: August 19 (two times) 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Each session is approximately 2.5 hours.
Where: Tri-City Construction Council
20 East Kennewick Avenue, Kennewick
Cost: Free
Registration required (but easy): Email Kbeyer@rcentrics.com with the number of people in your group, ages and if you prefer the morning or afternoon class. Each session is limited to the first 20 people who register.
Jane Ryan is a bestselling author, film maker and a disabled veteran herself. Jane’s own personal struggles with PTSD and the challenges that go with it, drove her to find the solutions she will share with us. We hope you can join us.
You can meet Jane during the Friends of Disabled Veterans Golf Tournament August 18 between noon and 6 pm at Canyon Lakes Golf Course.
A message from the presenter, Jane Ryan.

On December 23, 2022 Christmas came early for Friends of Disabled Veterans when the Pipe Hitters Union MC-Parabellum Chapter presented us with a check for $12,000 towards the construction of the Lodge at the Ranch. It has been great meeting another group that cares so much about veterans and are always ready to step up and help. I am sure we will do great things together!
The Pipe Hitters Union Motorcycle Club (PHUMC) is an International Motorcycle Club consisting of Active/Former and Retired Military, First Responders, Government Contractors, and likeminded individuals. GESA Hero's Grant
November 18, 2022 Friends of Disabled Veterans was chosen by GESA Community Foundation as a recipient of Gesa Credit Union’s Local Heroes Grant Award, receiving $50,000 in funding. With the award money, Friends of Disabled Veterans plans to complete the accessible outdoor archery range, and related pathways.
“Gesa is committed to serving the dedicated heroes our community relies on across Washington,” said Don Miller, President and CEO of Gesa Credit Union. “We’re thrilled to honor the valuable, community-building work that Friends of Disabled Veterans is doing, and we thank them for their selfless efforts in serving our community.”
Gesa’s Local Heroes Grant Program offers funding to organizations that assist Local Heroes in Washington, such as firefighters, healthcare workers, law enforcement, teachers and veterans. This year, 43 organizations were awarded through the program.
“We are so thankful for GESA’s continued support!” states Khris Beyer, Senior Operations Director. “These funds bridge the gap of our previous fundraising activities. With this, our ADA friendly archery range will be completed.” Veterans who utilize the facility will benefit from wide, smooth walkways, a covered archery range, and ADA accessible targets. “The archery range is just another way to bring the veteran and those that matter most to them, closer together through shared outdoor experiences.”

Past Event: Golf Tournament 2018
Our 2018 golf tournament included 30 teams of 4 players, along with 9 volunteers. About 40 items were donated for the silent auction to help raise money for Friends of Disabled Veterans. The money raised was pooled with other monetary donations to purchase one 20-acre parcel outright, so that we can start designing and building a lodge and area for overnight parking.
Thank you to all participants, volunteers, and donors! Because of your charitable contributions, we're well on our way to creating an outdoor location where disabled veterans and their families can go to unwind and relax - at no cost to the veteran or their family.
